Default Cheap Brake Upgrade.

Im doing a swap soon and i havent had a chance to get bigger brakes, im still running d-series cx brakes.I know these brakes will struggle stopping a b-series motor, but i was wondering what kind of "cheap"upgrade could i do for about 2 weeks until i get the brakes i really want.Should i use the brake pads from the 92-95 Si or EX.

Yeah guy, just hang on for a couple of weeks and take it easy, like dont put yourself in situations where heavy braking would be required!

You can't use ex/si brake pads without having ex/si calipers.

You taking this out on the track? If not, your stock brakes will have no real problems.

If you REALLY want to get a real upgrade, get a set of Carbotech Panther pads. This will improve your braking tremendously.

I track my car, and I have the ITR front system, and rear discs. Although I have to say this is a serious upgrade, its severe overkill for street driving. The CX Akebono calipers are just fine for stopping a stock Civic, even with a B series swap on the street.

yeah...just do good pads and fluid... unless tracking... brakes probably fade pretty quick w/ 9.x" rotors and a b series...

Ok, thanks and sorry for the bother. I know im going to have to be careful for a while. The reason i said 2 weeks is because i plan on doing a GSR front and rear conversion.I dont plan on taking this car to the track for sometime now, but by then i will be ready to roll. Thanks again for the help guys.

two weeks huh? jus keep those stock pads on for two weeks. it will still stop your car. even after the swap those brakes will stop the car. there is no need for a brake upgrade if you're gonna be on it for two weeks.

for others that want a cheap brake upgrade get better pads, Hawk HPS or EBC green stuff will do fine. hawk HPS is a bit better than the EBC's. hawk has higher co-efficient of friction. its your choice.

remember a brake upgrade will only shorten your braking distance compared to stock when tested with the same line pressure.

for a better pedal feel you could put zip ties up and down your brake lines instead of buying $100+ stainless steel braided brake lines. thatll keep you busy for two weeks. i read that from grassroot's site

i dont think plastic zip ties will keep those high pressure brake lines from buldging from high line pressure. zip ties are rated about 75psi before they either break or in most case, stretch.
