so i just traded my eg for a 96 civic coupe dx. The car has a chattering noise when im accelerating. When the car is out of gear, there is no noise. When its in gear there is also no noise but when i accelerate the noise would start. Sometimes there is no noise until higher RPM or when i switch gears. can it be the clutch? transmission? doesnt sound like the engine, but could be a possibility. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Your valves are probably out of adjustment. Usually they will chatter alot when under load (i.e in gear), Mine does this too, especially when I go up hills. Its easily fixable, but I haven't had the time.

But it sounds like it's coming from thetranny. I'll take that valve adjustment into consideration tho. Anyone else that mite of had similar possibilities?
