Default changing throttle body.. iacv question.

i want to put a gsr throttle body on my 97 auto ex. i think the iacv is a three wire on my car and the gsr doesn't have an iacv on the throttle body. can i put a 5speed throttle body on my d16y8 auto? and if so what problems will i run into.

You cant use the GSR or the auto LS. Sadly your only choices are auto y8, y7 or y5 throttle bodies without micky mousing something.

If you're sticking with an auto ECU, your only option is to go with a throttle body with the 3-wire IACV integrated into it. There are no work-arounds for this.

You could swap intake manifolds... If you IE get an Y8 manifold, the IACV will be on the back on the manifold, and you'll have a much less restrictive intake.

If you're going OBD1, just get a Z6 manifold instead.
It's even better than the Y8 anyway.

If your going to run an auto p28 then yes you could change throttle bodies but have to do the 3wire to 2 wire conversion for the IAC.
