Change out trunk struts?
Ok, I thought that this was going to be an easy process. I bought new trunk struts/shocks for my '94 Sol. I went to install them but I couldn't get the little ball joint thing off the old one to put on the new ones. Is there a special tool needed to take these off, and then put them on the new ones? If anyone out there knows please get back to me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I looked at cutting them off but the dilema is still putting the joint onto the new ones since the new shock/strut doesn't have any on them. Thanks for the reply though I appreciate it. Still looking for a solution to the problem.

Part number 14/15. Par number 15 should have an eye on one end and a socket looking thing on the other. The old style has to be cut off and the new style has an extra clip thing so it can be taken off w/out cutting...
it seems exactly like the ones on my dads CRX that I replaced a few years back. Had to remove the ball part that screws into the lid, cut off the old one, replaces ball part into lid and snapped new one back on...

Re: (miahmouse)
I guess that I have the old style mount because the one side doesn't have that socket looking thing that you are talking about. The new strut that I have are the new ones I guess, they have a clip on it that resembles a "C" clip that can be popped off and then put back on when the ball mount is on... I'll see what I can do with these. Thanks for the reply. Any other suggestions would be appreciated too.

Just an update. I called a local Honda dealer and they told me that they don't sell the ball studs seperately... you have to buy the whole strut with the ball studs at the end... anyone else know where I can get these? Thanks.
