Default CF Hood question.

So i ordered a CF OEM style hood for my civic and i go to pick it up in Denver(like 3.5 hours away) from import sports preformance, i load it in the back of the van and am about to shut the doors when i notice some "dust" on my new accessory, i procede to whipe it off, but it doesn't whipe off. under closer examination i notice that they are imbedded in the clearcoat. i go back inside and ask the guy there whats up and he comes outside too look at it. he doesn't really know and he says that it will just "buff off", i don't think so. so i left the CF hood there and he is ordering a new one from i believe Vision. I looked at the stack of CF hoods he had inside and not ONE of those had the bubbles or any other defects on it, so i just got unlucky. My question is has anyone else experienced this. The bubbles were only visable from certain angles and i almost just took it. so my brother will be bringing one back next weekend when he comes back from thanksgiving. hopefully i will get a good one. one more question, about how much weight will i save by switching to a CF hood? tnx

Fiber Images is the CF Hood I got and it's great. I am about 20 pounds lighter with it and the quality of the hood is flawless......

I have a vis, my buddy has an FI we know it lighter 3-5 LBS atleats but you really cant tell. FI makes different leve;ls of hoods I believe. If you really want a light strong and awsome looking hood get a hammerhead aviation one... I wish I could have waited.
But yes lots of hood have resin bubbles, Mine had one but the body shop sanded it out when the re cleared my car.

I have an APC, no idea how much lighter but it is a piece of crap!!!

first time I tried to put it up on its stand, the stand broke the hood. It didnt penetrate all the way through, just enough that I have no hood stand

Worst part is it was around $500

There's a bad one in every bunch.

Sunny Stylin' knock off
Sold the piece of **** to someone who thought it was the ****.

FI is OK. It has some blemishes on the top. Very light. Underside is very nicely finished.

VIS. haven't had one yet but have seen good ones and bad ones of those too.

i wouldnt go for sunny styling..

i heard they went through a lawsuit with their hood. apparently the cf skins were coming of the skeleton. i heard about one guy having the skin come off his hood an cartwheeling onto 3 other cars breaking all their windshields. im pretty sure they were sunny styling hoods.

If you buy some epon 828 made by hysol company (its a resin) And seal the hood proprly you will not need hoodpins. Hammerhead does not even "recomend" them for use on their hoods...

I have to speak pretty highly of Hammerhead's hood. I got one of the first "revised" hoods that fit Civics with B18 swaps. The quality is pretty darn good and the company is very top notch. (you will find that most aviation shops are extreamly good to thier customers)

Willam at Hammerhead even sent me a Xmas card

I have seen lot of other brand hoods both good and bad. The fitment on this hood and resin quality is pretty high up there.

i also noticed blemishes on my FI hood. but i bought it used from a friend of mine for 100 bux(as sohc93hatch stated) so why the hell would i pass up the offer..anyways, when i bought it off my friend, it only had 1 spot of blemish..damn small dots pissed me off cuz when im walking by my car, the hood looks perfect, till i keep walking..u can only see the blemishes in certain angles.........ive had the hood now since the spring of 02, i have about 4 blemishes now, and the guys at FI just told me to get it color sanded, and clear coated again...im happy with my hood..it just doesnt have an oem fit on my ride, but fits perfectly on my friends car before...(his fenders are in more from an accident BTW)
