CATZ h4 high/low HID review
CATZ high/low beam h4 5500k kit, from www.visualdynamics.ca
4300k and 6000k also available. not many personal experiences out there, so here is mine:
some pics of the install:
bulb
the bulb fits perfectly and the rubber boot makes a moisture tight seal
the bulb moves in and out inorder to change the arc of light
Here is a short clip of the bulb changing from high beam to low beam.
http://24.157.217.30/catz/h4/P1010052.mov
here is a high beam low beam comparison...note the car is too close to the door but you can see the difference in light spread. light moves up and to the left.
low to high beam switch:
http://24.157.217.30/catz/h4/1.mov
from the front:
http://24.157.217.30/catz/h4/2.mov
light is actually pure white in person.
they work great, the high beam is fully functional and is convenient.
a good solution to those who are worried about losing high beam capabilities with most hid kits.

6000k kit is the highest you want to go before you start seeing diminishing returns. If you want it mainly to see better then a 4100k or 4300k kit is the best.
If you want the light to look a little bluer or a little more purple (IE: BMW) then 5000k-6000k is the highest you want to go.
I ahve a friend that just got some 7500k's I want to compare then to my cousins's 5000k's and my 6000k's (When Mine get here).

Looks like there is simply better spread with the high beams.. Does not look like it is actually any higher at all.. You can prolly drive around with the high beams on all the time and get a better light output and spread without people flashing you.. might want to try it cuz it does not look like there is much light above the cut off even with the brights...

Re: CATZ h4 high/low HID review (Canttx)
I have a few questions....
1. How much are these kits anyway?
2. Are they quality products? i.e. is product failire a problem?
3. Will I have a problem with oncomming passerbys flash me as if I had my brights on even if I dont?
4. Do these get hot? Will I have a problem burning harnesses, or my headlamp assemblies? (6th gen plastic that is)
These are some questions that I have been wondering for years, I think i am ready to invest....any help would be great

$400+ on headlights........................................
I believe the Catz kits are ISO certified. I think they have like a 0.000001% failure rate.......very high quality.
Treveor from Visual dynamics is selling these now and I believe he is making the HyLow kit. IM him to ask more questions.

It's funny that you say "400 dollar on headlights ". Obviously people are skeptical before they plop down that kind of cash on 'some headlights', but the bottom line is that people ARE buying them...why? Because they are worth it! Just judging from your demeanor, you probably haven't sat in a car with HIDs and then sat back into a car without them. You seriously feel crippled when you drive HIDless...they are worth every last penny you pay for them. Think about it this way, would you pay 400 dollars to keep yourself as well as any passengers (family) safer in your vehicle?
If anything, I can't see people spending 300+ on JDM headlights...when they won't fork over the same price for some HIDs. I guess showing off is more important than actual function to them.

Or 100+ on some amber corners.
Its what's important to you. no joke when I saw the 2 integra's beside each that was enough for me to be sold.

My HIDs are easily one of the best mods i have ever done to my car. As a matter of fact, HIDs will be my first mod on any non-HID car i buy from here on out. You don't know **** if you think HIDs are a waste of money. I'm talking below 6000K HIDs here. Not the "i have blue or green tinted lights y0" ones..

the color on the lights looks differently on each brand even for the same K. so it would be best to look at the pictures first. in my opinion hella 7000K looks the closest to bmw or audi a6. (white color with hint of purple) and yet the most affortable out there.

From what I've seen the Phillips Ultinon 6000k kit is really close to BMW/Audi HID's as well.

hids goes the same as whatever floats your boat. your choice!
Me personally, if hids weren't made on your car as a standard, or you didn't get an option, don't even bother with them.
There are several reasons why, first, your headlights are not made for HID projection. Second if you put on hid on regular halogen headlights, you will get a messed up beam pattern.
Like BMW, their headlights are made for hids and so forth.
Besides when inspection comes, more than likely you will have to take them out because of the glare they cause, the inspectors will come out and check it anyways.
If you live in a strict state like NJ you would know

Re: CATZ h4 high/low HID review (MugenHonda)
$500-$600 for headlights
if you can't see the road at night time with the headlights on you don't need to be driving. Or, do somthing better with that money and buy your self some prescription glasses.

Re: CATZ h4 high/low HID review (Avyer)
Well there are alot of streets in GA that have no lights (A lot). A lot of twisting curves and blind corners. I would like to have brighter lights. I don;t street race but I do I have a kid to think about.
Depends on the kit you get......if its good glare isn't so much a factor because a quality kit will come with a glare shield and other devices to help keep the beam as tight as possible.
This is like beating a dead horse. If you don't want to buy HID's then fine don;t, but don't **** on anyone else that wants to because to you'd rather spend the money else where. I can afford it and people who are buying it can obviously afford it.
