Default Carsound 2.5" cat or J's Racing straight pipe

Does anyone have any experience with either one?

My setup right now is as follows, B16A2 / Spoon elbow+filter / DC 4-1 with 2.5" collector / Thermal 2.5" catback

I was wondering if the J's racing straight pipe will be too loud... I'm pretty sure it'll perform better. What are you guys with similar setups using?

carsound.

I have my own custom straight pipe currently, and my exhaust just keeps getting louder and louder and louder. Your ears will thank you for it.

I've had problems with the carsound cats. Both the ones I've had needed to be replaced within 30k miles.

Some people have had this problem. Some have not, but it is something to consider.

Carsound

I don't think I could complain about a high flow cat crapping aout after 30,000 miles. People that have run them and had no problems are the people that had their cars tuned. As long as you tune your engine properly, I bet you'ld be fine.

A lot of Miata owners say they failed smog with a Carsound cat and stock engine. The miata motor is obviously not a Honda motor, but just one of Carsound's problems that has arisen.

Well, the problem is that Carsound is a high flow cat, and with any high flow cat, they will emit more harmful **** to the environment. The miata motor in Cali has more smog **** on it than in other states, and the stock cat does quite a bit for it.

I've also heard of guys with 2.5" carsounds on their cars not passing either. But one sure as hell will not pass with a straight pipe.

I've had my SMSP Carsound for 10k+ miles and haven't had any problems with it. Passed WA smog fine (not the most stringent tests though).

The horsepower that is gained from a test pipe is minimal, and the increase in noise and pollution is not a good trade-off IMHO.

i have the JDM DC 4-1 header with a 2.5" Carsound cat, but i've had it for about 10k miles now.

no problems with it so far.

i got mine from SMSP... they have great customer service and are very helpful.

If you have a carsound you better hope your car is tuned to a ******* tee.

If not, that **** will blow out and you have a straight pipe, trust me

we sell carsounds, which are EPA approved and CARB ok: they have paperwork with them and warrenty:

Id suggest cat over the testpipe, not for just the "tree saving" reason but many ppl state that their is more of a "smell" with testpipes

The Carsound doesn't come with 02 sensors and all necessary hardware? I thought they did.. Do we have to purchase them seperately and install them?

don't be fooled with aftermarket cats i had piece of cat fall off and it ended up on the connection on mid pipe to a rear section and it plugged my exhaust and i didn't know what was going on so took the cat off and part off the cat was off and now i'm left with a gutted cat .....
