Icon3 Carbon Fiber Hood Problem

Hey i just got a free CF hood from my friend for my 98 civic. The only reason i got it for free is cuz the hook that goes into latch is missing. I wanna just put on some hood pins and maybe that would keep it down but im not sure if thats ok. What do you guys think, put it on amd just install sum hood pins? or not put it on at all? Any help is appreciated.

I would find a latch and have someone repair it that knows how to work with fiberglass.

Just think if your hood pins fail, then the hood is going flying into your windshield unless you have a latch in place.

i dont see why they would. i thought pins were to help keep the hood in place at the track and ****, to prevent it from flipping up and flying off

No, oddly enough, most companies don't recommend anything. They're really not necessary if you have a nicely made latch. Hood pins require a hole being drilled, and if that is not performed properly, then you will get spider cracks in the gel coat(if it has gel and not clear). Not to mention if you have a failure in one of the pins, who knows what could happen. I have a couple left over from a while ago. If you would like, I can sell you one. They are stainless steel and very well made. It bolts in as apposed to those sh**ty resined in ones that come on the VIS and Siebon hoods. THIS WILL NOT BREAK. Pm me if you are interested.
