Car won't start when extremely cold...please help me figure it out
disclaimer: I live in florida so extremely cold to us is anything below 65
anyways...sometimes my car will not start in the morning when its cold out. This all started when I killed my Optima yellow top battery about 2 weeks ago, which was completey recharged. This morning when I was out my friend checked the voltage on the battery and he said it was 11.7...which I believe was from all the cranking I was doing a few hours before. Friend says car started on the first turn when he tried @ 10am, which I totally expected.
Here's my hypothesis...my car used to be turbo and has bigger injectors in it, but I'm not sure what size. It is also hooked up to a resistor box that was completely rewired because I was having some other problems with it about a month back. I'm pretty sure my o2 sensor is shot as well as my gas mileage as plummuted and continues to get worse. It was in bad shape when we took off the turbo kit and I ran open header for about 2 weeks but the gas mileage went to **** AFTER I installed my RS*R exhaust. Now I can't even hold 15mpg it seems like After the car completely warms up it acts like it doesn't want to pull in the lower RPM's. Do you think these problems might be correlating? I'm sure my problem lies between the injectors, battery and o2 sensor.
Specs:
1992 Civic Si
JDM b16a
stock JDM p30
new plugs
new dizzy
timing set @ stock 16degrees
holley 190lph fuel pump
cat delete/replaced with resonator
anymore details I will be more then happy to provide

Re: (Otherguy)
well car started on the first turn this morning...things of note:
Yesterday when the car didn't start I DIDN'T hear the fuel pump prime, this morning I did.
It was also considerably warmer this morning.
any other clues?

when you turn on your ignition does it prime the fuel pump?
if so... then just turn on the ignition, let it chill for a few sec. then start it?
*shrugs* if that works then cool if it is nowhere near a good idea then sorry :-(

yes. every morning that it has started this week I've turned the ignition on first so I can hear the fuel pump prime.

try this:
take the main relay out. (under the steering column area)
take it apart by ptying the case off with a flathead screwdriver.
re-solder all the globs of solder. I did it to mine and my stalling issues went away.
something to do with "dry joints"
BTW i also heard the pump prime but then i turn the ignition, the car starts, stumbles then dies. it will only get worse.
give it a shot.

Re: (Turbo E)
i'm gonna try getting a new main relay tommorow...I'll definetly post up an update afterwards...I hate threads like this where you find someone else that has the exact same problem as you but never update the fix action

too late...I bought the new relay Wednesday and installed it. No problems starting so far and the weird hesitation I had from 2.5k to 5k seems to be gone. I'll be replacing the o2 this weekend, hopefully I get some gas mileage back
