back firing into teh intake would make it a timing issue. Make sure your car is timed right. and just because you have fuel, doesn't mean you have enough fuel pressure to start, although Hondas rarely have fuell pump issues. CHeck all your grounds and make sure they are all good ( valve cover, transmission bracket, and tstat housing) Check your plugs and make sure they are fouled.

Not sure you have same problem but :::
Had the same type of problems this week and my car was not getting compression. Why? because it was flooded so much or so long that it needed spark plugs removed, cleaned and dried. Oh, then the trick!!! while the spark plugs are out, take an oil can with a long enough hose to get into the cylinder and squeeze a little oil into each cylinder. This will allow the car to get compression again. You see the gas in the cylinder walls is causing to slick a surface and it doesn't have enough compression to start. Worked like a champ on my car. Hope this helps!!!
