Car won't... go
Help !
98 civic with the stock D16Y7 all it has is a CAI and the y8 intake manifold on it. Has run fine with simple surging idle for a while.
I was running her a little hard today and a street away from my house I noticed that I could not accelerate any more.
Car turns on, has surging idle. WILL go into gears without clutch being held in. WILL NOT die in gear.
I just can't go anywhere.
Could it be the clutch? I am *really* hoping it's not the tranny. (I am not too good with cars and I'd say it would suck to have to pay for a tranny replacement)
Thanks in advance!

Re: Car won't... go (Maness)
ALSO since it's on a slant I put her in gear and she doesn't roll.
So she *is* going into gear... throttle cable is still there
I'll have to check CEL again, I've been throwing 14 but that was for the IACV.

The code 14 would explain the idle problem.
Your tranny problem could be as simple as your clutch being gone. How many miles are on the clutch? And where is blah CA? If you need your clutch changed, and you are in SoCal, my friend will do it for $150.

Re: Car won't... go (SOHC4life 96)
I knew what the 14 was for, and blah is over by Lancaster/Palmdale
So you guys think clutch. That's good that seemed to be the best possible scenario. (of the worst ones I guess)
Thanks for help so far!

I see, blah is pretty damn close to South Gate so if you do need a new clutch and don't have the time or know-how to change it yourself, he will do it for $150, you supply the clutch kit, and money to get the fly wheel resurfaced.
