Icon3 Car tuned to 93octane, but no 93 pumps around

My car is tuned to 93 octane and there are no 93 pumps in town... so ive added octain booster the first tank 3 bottles and it ran rich the whole time never going to lean or stoich, now i put 2 in and it stays in rich but moves barely into stoich when i let off the throttle...does anyone know how to fix the problem rather than getting the car retuned????

i would appreciate any help, im new to a boosted car/import/honda and will take any good advise ....

Danny

Throwing three bottles of octane booster in it isnt a good fix. What is the highest octane fuel that you can get ahold of?

Retune or deal with your car not running at its full potential.

Octane booster doesnt work that well for high octane fuel such as 91

you should be good on 91 octane. and on days you wanna have the full power only add ONE bottle in the car. putting 3 in is like bumping to to 105 octane lol.

So only one bottle should be good?

As mentioned, octane "boosters" don't do much of anything. I think I remember reading that they only boost the octane by .1 or .2. Either search around for a gas station that has 93 octane, or get the car retuned for whatever is available.

if you want a true octane boost, toluene. It can be found at hardware stores. Honda 1st started using it as fuel in their F1 cars back in the 80's. Cause they were running like 72psi turbos or something crazy and its like 110 octane or something. Honda is just that baller to pioneer it.

Thanks for the help guys... i found a place to retune the car for 1600 bucks and a EMS ecu to make more pawer rather than having the chip/flashed... pretty good deal from what i can understand... complete tune along with the EMS...
but until i get it do get it fixed shelby is about 80 miles away thats the cloest to Great Falls so ill just have to leave myself plenty of gas to get back up there to fill up haha
and no boosting until its fixed..for good... but i cant thank u guys enough.really!

If its tuned on 93, and your running 91, it wouldn't change much, if it does, something else is wrong.

as far as i know everything is fine with the car, ive been driving it daily.. and the only thing ive noticed "quote on quote wrong" is 3rd gear vteck at 18psi it spudders about half way threw like just a real quick pop pop pop like its the fuel or somthign... bout it tho... 4th didnt do it 2nd never has... but still i want to get it tuned to 91 octane for "peak performance" purposes

don't be getting on it then just drive ^^^. you should be good. if you put 87 in then you're gonna start pinging and knocking. if its not already then its good just ur not gonna be pulling that hard. and 1600 bux? WOW! thats a lot.

Figure out if you're knocking or not. If you aren't, don't worry about it. If you are, use the e85 to boost your octane. That's like 110 octane, so do the algebra to find out how much to add to how much 91 octane to achieve 93. I'm talking with my girlfriend about how to work it out, but I'm guessing it's something like 1 gallon e85 to 9 gallons 91 octane?

are you serious???

you are worried about 2 points in octane??? you dont have much faith in your tuner if so.

if you are REALLY worried about it pull 2-3 degrees of base timing.

well the lower octane is generally due to a altitude change so its not the octane that matters generally its the timing advance. if you went from 93 octane to 91 it sounds like you went to a higher elevation. Getting retuned is the best and probably only way to due it.

p.s. octane booster is crap dont use it. its a waste of money....

i cant believe everyone makes SUCH a huge deal over this. just back off the timing if you're scared.

if you arent getting any spark knock now which i doubt you are then you're fine.
