So appx. last week I started hearing a small rattling noise; I assumed it was some sort of a loose pipe or something. It's continued all week.. until today. Today it rained and for some reason or another the noise got immensely louder, my friend thinks it may be a valve issue in the engine, but basically when I turn on the engine a huge noise pops up and it goes in sync with the revs of the motor. somewhat of a woodpecker noise or a pipe bouncing up and down rapidly noise.


If it's engine related and costs me more then a grand to fix I'm thinking of swapping the engine, I've been thinking about it for a while now but I suppose this will motivate me to actually do it somewhat.
so my question is, how difficult would it be for me to find/buildup/install a b18c5 engine? and what would that cost me totally. I've got around 2-4k to put into it.

2-4k?.....the c5 swap alone is more than that.

You should find and install a B18C1 engine.

I can't diagnose your sound over the computer though. Sorry.
