IACV, Idle Air Control Valve

if the car is warm and it surges, check your FITV, Fast idle T? Valve.

Your best bet is your IACV since it is happening during cold-starts.

Sorry I don't have pictures but maybe search up "Neurologic", I remember cleaning out my IACV and following his steps to do it for the very first time.

The valve should be right under your throttle body held on by three nuts.

You'll need to soak it into Carb Cleaner for some time before all the build up comes off.

But check out "neurologic's" post about it. It's helpful with pictures.

EDIT: What car is it? I had the FITV on my 94 EX Civic.

Isnt the car supposed to do this? When my car is cold it will surge and hold at 1500-2000rpm for a minute or two until the car starts warming up.

Heres the link from "NEROLOGIC" not "Neurologic" *sorry*. And I've mistaken, the thread is not a how-to for the IACV but for the FITV.

But I suggest you search "IACV" and see what comes up...maybe there will be how-to's on that. I know when I had to take it apart, I just used the search function. Trust me, all the info is in the search.
