can't get window crank handle off!!!
okay let's start out by saying, I can build a engine, convert to a ek front, but can't get the stupid passenger side window crank off. Usually there are metal clips to get them off but there is none in it door. I took a small paper thin piece of plastic off the inside only to yank and yank and can't get it off! I took a rag to try to find a hidden metal ring but nothing. Tried to pry with a screw driver and nothing. It's a vx hatch and I'm camoing the cloth inserts. I'm really stumped. Is there some Honda trick to get the pass. Side off??

I have a 95 hatch and I recently lost about 1/4 of the hair from the top of my head trying to get that off. It's a Jesus clip.
A special tool will help remove it but it can be done by "making the special tool". Use a screw driver or something like that. As I recall the top of the clip is adjacent from the protruding arm of the crank.

lol!!!!!!!
god dam....just get a paper clip stighten it out and make a "j" out of it...that will take the clip out..
to put the clip back on just put the clip on the handle while it's off, then just push the handle back on with the clip attached to the handle

Re: can't get window crank handle off!!!
Take a small flat tip screw driver, hold it so the flat part of the tip is parallel to the ground. Now put the shaft of it parallel to the length of your window crank. Now slide it between the crank and door panel at the base, it'll push out the horseshoe shaped clip.
I hope this helps you, it works every time for me.

You pop the clip into the crank while its out and then you just push the crank on the regulator crank rod and it snaps right in.
The regulator crank rod is tapered so it should go on easily.

Convert to power windows.
Jk. Flathead always worked for me but just recently found out that needle nose pliers are easier if you get it at the right angle.

Re: can't get window crank handle off!!!
I know what the U clip is, and like I said in the orginal post...looked for the u clip and it is nowhere....ill look again today and try to find it but its like stuck in there. Im beggining to think someone super-glued it or some ****. The screwdriver and rag method always works for me, but I tried it and theres no clip. I pushed the vinyl to check behind the crank and nothing. Ill check again today...if so then I will feel stupid

i use a pick thats on a 90 degree bend pulls it off every time.
if theres a black plastic insert between the handle and door panel push that back to the door panel it sometimes blocks the view.

Like someone else said sometimes theres like this really big plastic washer kinda thing behind the handle hididng the clip. Use a magnet to try to detect the presencr of the clip.

if that plastic washer is gone already....you should see the clip. can you wiggle the handle around at all? or is it like reallly snug on there? if it doesnt have any play then id say it was gorilla glued on there or somethin. always the lil things that end up being a PITA ayy?

window mechanism? u mean regulator haha
the window regulater comes thru the hole on the door frame to let the handle adjust it up and down.

Nope I meant the handle. And sure enough super glue. Got it off though. Just took brute force. Thanks. Thread closed.
