Default Canadian Wiring Harness - 3 wire to 4 wire Alternator Plug

Is it possible to convert the 3 wire alternator plug on a Canadian harness to a 4 wire alternator US plug?

I have both harnesses (US - and Canadian)....

Can I match the colors and run a wire back to the ECU pin of the AltC (Alternator control pin) for the extra wire? From my research it will throw a code if I leave this 4th pin disconnected, because the alternator will constantly be charging.

Here's a picture of the plug itself:

Thanks! Help is appreciated greatly!

Canadian Harness: 1997 (OBD2A) Si (EX) - D16Y8.

United States Harness: 1998 (OBD2A) EX - D16Y8.

The Si is just an EX there.

Wire colours please ... and OP, you're in good hands here ... I see some of the most helpful Canadians on this board responding in this thread.

PS., I do know that the 5th Gen Civics USDM vs. CDM used different alternator plugs.... however, this is a mystery.

Wire color is white/green pin = A19. The harness is also missing D16 (ELD).

I guess the main question now is....

Does my ECU (JDM P72 B18C - P72-013) look for the ELD... otherwise I will run without it.

Lots of people with chipped OBD1 ecu's clip this wire.

I soldered on the 4 plug connector to my 3 wires on the EK harness.

The 4th wire is for Ï forget right now EDL ?!? "but you dont need it. I terminated the 4th wire in the loom.'and works great.

False, I did this with an OBD1 b18b swap in the EK , never threw a code and used the stock p75 ecu

So just attach the 4 pin to the 3 pin harness and tie off the spare wire?

My JDM ECU SHOULDNT look for ELD... anyone wanna comfirm that?

It's a JDM P72-013... B18C OBD2A GSR etc etc

Actually as far as I know Canadian and US OBD1 alternators use the same round plug.

As far as the 4 wire, 3 wire OBD2 plugs, as has been mentioned, or at least hinted at, Canadian OBD2 Civics don't have an ELD. As a further aside JDM Civics use a 4 wire alternator, so i'm guessing they have an ELD, so the ECU may look for one.

I found this:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/obd2b-3-wire-alternator-obd1-4-wire-help-searched-1766948/

I'm gonna call some tuners tomorrow and see if they if my ECU looks for one.

PS: The altC wire runs to the ECU at A19... then the "ELD" wire runs from D16 to the cabin connector I think. But I have neither pins on the Canadian harness.

The ELD is not something I wanna wire in...
