Can set my timing
i went to a shop that had a timing light to get it set, the guy fiddled with the dizzy's mouning position for a while and then he told me that maybe there was a problem with the distributor because he couldnt set the timing farther that 5° advanced (should be at 16°).
What could it be?
The dizzy is fairly new but I dont know about the timing belt instalation (now at 110k miles and was changed at 90k). Maybe its a tooth off? Also maybe the crank pulley is of by a bit (or does it have only one mounting pos?)
PLease I need some help

So if the belt is a tooth off then the timing could be as messed up as it is right? Its all the way advanced and it has only 5° positive timing.
How can I check if it is a tooth off? Is there any visual way to know?

Re: Can set my timing (blueeg)
I could be going out on a limb here....but
I have seen the keys for the crank pulley get sheared, which would totally throw off your readings for timing, since it reads off the crank pulley.
If the timing belt is correct, and the dizzy is correct, then this could be a possibility.
Pull off the pulley and see if the key has sheared. If the pulley moved around a little, it will throw off your ignition timing readings

I know, im sorry. I really like this place but sometimes you just can get even one answer and there are a lot of great people here. Ill take my valve cover off (i also want to set my valve lash) and if its not that then the pulley is coming off.

Did you check the marks on the cam gear and crank pulley? If you changed the timing belt 20,000 miles ago...when did you notice you had a timing problem? At 5degrees it should be running like total crap.
