Can I use a Y crank in a D16Z6?
Hey, I just got my first civic, infact I still have to go pick it up. Its a 95 with a d16, I don't know miles right off hand but I do know its in rough shape and I gave pretty much scrap price....
Now to the questions.... My buddy said it had alot of ticking in the lower end and sounded like garbage so he figured it spun a rod bearing. From what I understand they are easy to swap the motors out on them. This isn't the first time working on a car, There is another member on here that I helped with his tubro swap on his D16(I welded his header up and hauled it for him) I've also done a 5.9 cummins swap in to a 80's ford body so I know how to work on stuff.
I don't plan on boosting it, its just going to be my DD to work and school (if its done in time). It has a the D16 Z6 in it, so can I use a Y crank? I've also seen that some people have used the cranks from the gen after it with only the single oil port, and not the dual like this one has from my understandings.
Thanks for the help. I'll post up some pics when I get a chance.

Re: best choice?
I'm not selling the car. I thought that if I was in this spot that It would be the spot to ask about the cranks and stuff. The only quoted "for sale" part of it was when I said "If someone had a whole motor set up that I could bolt up I'm willing to deal. I live near Eau Claire WI." other wise all I'm asking about what crank and rods will work in this engine block.

yes you can put a y8 or y7 crank in a z6 but i wouldn't recommend it because the rod journals only have 1 oil port as the zc,z6,a6 have 2 oil ports for the rods and less likely to spin a rod bearing. not saying its not possible on these engines as well but happens alot less.

Anyone know what the snout of the Z6 is off hand? I found a local shop that can get me all honda OE replacement parts for it.
Can some one also go in to detail on what it is cause I've been seaching on line and all I can find are people doing what I'm doing and asking what size it is for their motor.
95 D16Z6...
thanks
