Default Can anybody tell me more abt my car? 1997 Civic GLi

I just bought a year 97 civic not long ago.
it's a hatchback. and at the back of the car got a 25th anniversary tag and GLi.
I wish to learn more about it. Anybody care to tell me more?
Thanks!

word, those cars aren't offered in the US, I don't know :-X

obviously they're some kinda aussie only civic :-X

Iono how to find information on this bro...guess the only thing to do is search (not on ht b/c they won't really have the info, I guess on aussie google or something)...but I"m sure somebody on HT has to know something about it...

Yeah, just typed "Civic CXi" into google and 1001 sites popped up, mostly like drive.com.au (austrailian site)...but from what I can tell..

looking at a 1.3L engine up until mid 90's, like, ur year, where they upgraded engine size so u prolly have a 1.6L, aight, jsut found another 97, has a 1.6L, so that's ur engine size, as for the engine model #, not sure, typical ****, 4 sp auto or 5 sp manual, umm...I'm pretty sure the 96-00 gen (6th generation) ran a D16Y7, that's a non-vtec SOHC 1.6L engine..it's a hatchback

As for the GLi, 4 dr sedan, 1.6L engine in the 6th generation models...but in 2001 they made it w/ a 1.7L...seems the 1.6L engine they were using was a D16Y4...iono what else you want, it was available in 4sp auto and 5 sp manual

Whatever you want you just g2 look for it, I can look if you want but u'll have to send me a PM with what exactly you want to know and what year is of each car etc...

I would buy the hatchback, neither of them have vtec so speed's not an issue, but the hatchback's got less weight to carry around..and I was never really a fan of 4 doors..

thanks for the information.
may i know what/s the different between a SOHC and a vtec engine?
i think mine is only a SOHC. and it's a manual 5 sp.
I felt that the pick up speed is kind of slow. what should be the destinated Rev to change to a upper gear?
Sorry for my ignorance.
Thanks

SOHC = Single overhead cam

Some are VTEC, some aren't.

Same with DOHC engines.
