Default cam swap question

can I put a jdm d15b vtec camshaft into a y8 head.

I ask because my friend is parting out his blown d15b and I heard it has a more aggressive cam than the y8 almost comparable to a zex cam supposetley.

so can this be done and if so would it be worth it.

p.s. I would be getting the cam for free.

I thought jdm d15b had 3 stage vtec might want to check if the cam will mate to the dizzy correctly, because I think some d-series have differences, maybe has to do with what obd they are from.

no the d15b with the three stage vtec came in the obd2 1996 and up jdm civics. The cam im am refering to came out of the 92-95 d15b vtec that did not have the three stage.

Would this be a simple install sice i would have to change the spings etc...

A drop in apllication?

It's drop in, you don't have to change anything in the head and yes, it's slightly more aggressive than the cam you have now. Will you notice a difference? Probably not.

i just read on another post that i would have to get an adjustable cam gear because my timing would be way off if I just drop it in. Also iwould nead the adjustable cam gear to see any real gains.

Can some one confirm this
