Default Cam Gear...
Is it a wise investment to replace the cam gear on a SOHC VTEC (D16y8) with like a Skunk2 or AEM. If so how much HP gain if any?

It's only really necessary if you've got an aftermarket camshaft and need to properly tune it.

It'll be harder to tune since there is only one camshaft. So basically your tuning both the intake and exhuast in one camshaft.

It'll be harder to tune since there is only one camshaft. So basically your tuning both the intake and exhuast in one camshaft.
Its not really harder to tune. With SOHC all you really can do is move the curve around, you can push it towards high end or low end some. More of an adjustment tool, not a tuning tool.
