Calling all 93 Civic owners... I need your help.
Ok so here's the deal, some time in 1993 Honda stopped having the non-VTEC Civics wired for VTEC. I have a March production car and mine was wired for VTEC, so if you have March or earlier production this doesn't apply. I need everyone who own one of these cars to look at the vin sticker on the drivers door jam. In one of the corners it will say the month and year of production. IE mine says 3/93 kinda small on it. The see if it is wired for VTEC. If you don't know how to do this then read down a few posts. I have put up a diagram on how to do this. Please help us discover when this change occured since it WAS 100% for sure a mid-year production change. I just need to narrow this down not only for my own personal knowledge, but so all of us can better assist others with their engine swaps wiring. Any help is greatly appreciated, happy tuning all..

At least you understand I'm doing this for the benefit of all. In no way does it really benefit me except for the fact that I could tell someone that "Hey since your car was produced after this month in 93 you will need to wire the VTEC." TY mad props!

Unbolt the 4 bolts holding the ECU and look at the connector all the way to your left. Look at the bottom row of pins/wires, is there a wire in the second one from the left? If so or even if there isn't post which it is and also look at the sticker inside the driver door jam. The one with the VIN etc. One of the corners will say XX/93 where XX = the month of production. That's all we need. Put the ECU back in and re-install that corner of the carpet. Simple I've even posted a pic of the pinout, the A4 terminal is noted it red.
Now if you have the wires you know all you will have to do wiring wise to drop that B-series you've been thinking of in your car is run the knock sensor. When you get to that point let me know and I'll walk you through it..

I never thought I would be doing a "DIY Finding out if your 93 is pre-wired for VTEC" Thanks for all the support of the people who are unable to help but see purpose in the cause. Mad props for looking out. I look at it like this, and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but WTF. We are all part of the same family, the Honda family. So we need to stick together and help each other in every way we can. Blood runs thicker than water in my book. I got your back newbs!!

Or you can pop your hood. Look at your passenger side shock tower and unclip the first or third canon plug down, mine is the third one down but I think they are supposed to be the first canon plug at the top. So just look for the 14 wire canon plug then...........
Look at the canon plug on the side that goes to the firewall and see if you have the circled wires going to the canon plug. If you do, then your car is wired for vtec.
Here is another pic with the wires shown going to the vtec oil pressure switch and vtec solenoid.
Hope this helps

well what im saying is that those two wires DO NOT end at that plug. they keep going on towards the engine. so are these two wires really for vtec?

Maybe your're looking at the wrong plug. Check the other one and see if it has the wires that I was talking about.

Re: (EG6 SiR)
Even though you're looking for 93's, I had to read this whole post, and now I'm posting mine anyway. haha
03/92
A4 has orange w/white line (looks like a grey dot also)
So to clarify, my car is wired for V-TaK goodness, right?

you said the third one down, and well i looked closer at the plugs in your picture and that 14 hole plug is on the top on my car. and it isnt wired for vtec.
so we know march 93 is wired and june 93 isnt. btw mine was built in canada.

My bad it might be the first or the third one down. Mine is the third one down, because it didnt fit on the first one for some reason. Oh well.
