Pure Sol

Didnt see many a/c related things when i searched so here goes, 95 del sol a/c button on, high fan, recirc. No compressor engagement. I know I have very little refrigerant in the system but shoud be enough to engage the clutch on the compressor. Any suggestions to see what might be the cause? Im planning on topping the refrigerant off sometime soon but I would like to know if the compressor is even functioning right.

usually if there is very little refrigerant in the sytem the a/c wont come on. what it will do is kick on for a sec then stop. if its working correctly once you add refrigerant and it will work.
