A/C Evaporator block off plate?
My 93 Civic Cx has a B18b swap. All of the Air condition parts are gone, except for the A/C evaporator (the intercooler looking thing inside the dashboard Hvac airbox)....Since I had to remove the dash anyway, and open up the HVAC box to remove a couple handfuls of leaves, I figured I might as well remove the A/C evaporator.
Problem is, there is a big metal flange where the line connect from the compressor. The flange is part of the evaportor,...so when removed, I am left with big oval hole going through the firewall directly into the HVAC blower box.
Which EG civics did not come with A/C standard? I was wondering if honda used plasitc block off plate, or if they simply stuck evaporators in all cars, regardless if equipped with A/C or not. Then again, they might have used a different portion of the HVAC blower box for that section.... Anybody know?
I might end up making a plate out of abs plastic, or maybe some sheet metal....but would'nt mind buying a part that fit, just so I don't have to fool with it. Hell, I might even put the evaporator back in...but no need to carry around that dead weight (only about 4lbs.)
