A/C doesn't work -- Recommendations on repairing 96 Del Sol ECU
Hola all -
After pretty much determining the problem with my A/C is most likely ecu related (see: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/air-conditioning-chip-96-del-sol-2831993/ if remotely interested) I'd be glad to hear some recommendations for places that offer remanufacturing/replacement, or how to go about making the judgment call on where to go. I have no clue how to differentiate between them other than checking with BBB to make sure none are complete ripoffs, and the prices vary very widely.
Many thanks for any help,
Peter

I did a quick scan of your previous thread. The fact that your condenser fan does not run is not consistent with a bad ECU. Get a multimeter and we can guide your through tests that will pinpoint the problem. Can you post a circuit diagram of your 96 Del Sol's A/C system?
Is the system properly charged with refrigerant?

I'm out of town for the next two weeks so I can't have at it immediately, but I can certainly give it a shot. I was told by the original investigative mechanics, years ago, that they were able to run everything if they bypassed the ecu (although I didn't know they were discussing the ecu at the time), their suggestion was to wire it directly to a switch they thought they could pop into the blank switch casings on the dash. I didn't take them up on it because hey, small car, easy enough to get airflow. At the time, they'd filled it up with refrigerant, but I'm sure some of it has most likely leaked by now.
It's a 96 5 speed manual S, the 'lowest' of the models (no vtec, no nothing). But I do love her, I've been driving her around more lately and she's a bucket of fun, sigh.
Many thanks for your assists here.
