A/C Compressor will not fully engage, but it does try. 93 civic dx
Its gotten hot and humid so i've began diagnosing my non-working a/c. i've got it narrowed down to the compressor clutch. when i ground the pressure switch blue/red wire to force the compressor to enguage the clutch moves slightly but will not fully engage.
the car is currenty charged with r12 so i'd like to keep the refrigerant for better than 134a obvious reasons. i've got a known good r134a compressor from my b16. can i just swap the clutch without evauating and recharging the system? if so how do i go about this?
i'll check this thread and update as i resolve the issue. thanks!

i just found this:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/92-95-civic-how-replace-c-compressor-clutch-2842466/
my issue is more than likely a bad or weak field coil right? i may just swap that from my known good compressor and see what happens.

ok i resolved the issue if anyone cares.
I got the car on the lift at work and gunned the 14mm for the compressor clutch off. the clutch was well worn and pry should be replaced. i found 1 single shim, or metal o-ing, on the toothed shaft. i removed it to gain better magnetic clearance so the clutch would fully engauge. it works flawless and the a/c now blows 36*. its 95 and 96% humidity. thank god for r12.
