check under your hood for any kind of miss placed hoses, rubbing against something hot and melting.
I had a smell like that in my sol once, it turned out, my bulb in my turn signal came loose from the crappy aftermarket socket and was touching the plastic, burning my turn signal.
Sniff around!

Ok im going to bring this post back from the dead... anyone else have this problem? I have it now and its really annoying. I cant find any reason for the smell, and it doesnt stick around long enough after I stop driving to actually "sniff around" to find it... anyone else have this problem at all?

Okay so i had this problem before and never figured out what caused it, it just went away on its own. Well the smell came back last night, and I cant figure out why... anyone else ever had this problem? I checked and I cant find anything burning. It STINKS!

I had this exact problem a little while ago. Turns out that a bolt came off of the little plastic sheild thing in front of my header. Its a thin black square peice of plastic that connects to the bumper. Its about a foot and half long and wide I think . Anyways, everytime I would go on the freeway or go faster than 40 mph the peice of plastic would be blown back by the wind and touch my header's heatsheild. I didn't know that it was the cause of the smell until I popped my hood one day and found the plastic peice melted to one of the heatsheild's bolts. I didn't wanna hassle with getting a new bolt to hold the plastic on so I just ripped it off and tossed it. I don't think it really served that much of a purpose, because I've had it off for a couple months and had no problems.
