i'd do the D16Y8. for many reasons. However...wouldnt it just be cheaper and easier...and...way better to swap in a B or H motor and call it a day?

You're not gonna hit 13's or 14's on either of those motors.
With a D15B or a Y8 in a sol you'll be lucky to get into the 15's (you probably won't unless weight reduction + very good driver).
Swap or boost.
