Brake upgrades?
I was just thinking about what upgrades I am going to do to my braking system. SS lines are a must. I was originally thinking of a big brake kit because my 17" rims will easily clear but I really would like to be able to put down to 14" back on my car for track days. What do you guys think will be a good solution for my brakes?
completely stock brakes on a 96 EX
B18C5 Turbo under the hood (thats why I really need brakes soon)

I allready tried searching but what else do I need besides the GSR caliper itself for it to bolt right up? Also what have your experiences been with aftermarket rotors, inparticular slotted but not cross drilled?

Pads and SS lines should do the trick...the stock systems are designed to withstand more than stock power anyways to pass certain cerifications..
I recommend Hawk pads.

Rotors do not have "performance." Rotors are only there as a heat sink; they are a wear item. Spending extra money for fancy drilled and/or slotted rotors over the cheaper blanks is just a waste because there are no real benefits. If you want to upgrade your stopping power and avoid fade, then upgrade tires first, then pads and fluid.

Yeah unless they're 14x7s or wider. IMHO 13s are much better. Too bad the only 13x8s that fit over 10.3" front brakes are pricey Panasports.

Of course some rotors are going to perform better than others....hence the "performance"
Most road racers prefer off the shelf blanks, such as myself, because they are cheap and do the trick.
But, you can get ceramic treated rotors which displace heat a lot better, etc.

Ceramic? I think you mean cryogenically treated rotors.
And these do nothing to improve stopping power or heat dissipation - cryogenically treated rotors simply last longer and aren't worn away by the pads as easily.

I am going to auto x and track my car so stoping power is a must. Just messing around on the streets gives me terible brake fad. I also dont mind spending a bit of money to get something that will really work. I have honda OEM rotors and now they get really hot. I do agree with whats posted above that cross drilled rotors will eventually crack from repeated track use (not drag I mean race track) I have seen it happen.
Are GSR calipers worth the upgrade over the stock EX ones?
As far as pads what have you guys like and disliked?
Also what fluid is good? I have never really looked into changing it but it seems like it could have a huge imact.

if you gotta stay with the 14s then I say upgrade to the gsr calipers with some bad *** pads and fluid. but if I ever made that much power, Id really look at a better brake setup to match that power

AEM pads have worked for my purposes. I recommend that you take a look at the Carbotech Bobcats and some Brembo blanks.

ATE Superblue racing or ATE Type 200 Gold. Same fluid, just differnet colors. This fluid has a good wet and dry boiling point and is suitable for street driving. There are other fluids that are better, but they absorb moisture quicker, so the most practical choice for a dual purpose car.

i got brembo and they are sooo awesome u can stop on a dime with no problem, never have to worry about them warping such as happens with cheap ****, if u got the money go with brembo if not go with the gsr
