brake/tail lights won't turn off
I have a 97 Civic EX. My brake/tail lights are staying on when I turn the car off. I found the source to be the brake light switch but instead of buying a new one I rigged up a bolt to the arm. Although it fixed the light problem it somehow locked my brakes up while driving and I burnt up my clutch. Replaced my clutch and brake light switch but even with a new switch the lights still wont turn off. Can't find a diagram for the relays so haven't been able to check that yet. Can anyone help?

Re: brake/tail lights won't turn off
You adjusted the brake pushrod prior to "rigging the bolt" to the brake pedal. Now your brakes are applied permanently to some degree. Adjust the free play on the brake pedal to spec. Then diagnose any electronic problems with the lights.
If ALL your brake lights are on, then your problem stems from a common point to all the brake lights, IE the brake switch.
You will not burn up a clutch due to this problem. That is a separate problem.
