brake problems with 92 civic dx hatch
hey i posted a few weeks back with a intermittant brake issue...i've replaced pads, rotors, calipers, booster, master cylinder, hoses, and booster check valve and still as i drive the pedal gets tighter and tighter as i go until the brakes are closed and i have to use full throttle to keep the car moving and when i stop both sides in the front are smoking hot literally...any suggestions as to what could be goin on i replaced the master cylinder and booster about a month before everything else and the problem started after installing new pads rotors and calipers...

did u grease everything that u were suppose to when u did the pads....sounds like its seized on the caliper....or the piston is seized in the caliper bore.

Sounds like air is stuck in the calipers. I would try to bleed your brakes out very thoroughly if I were you. Remember to start at the brake that is furthest from the master cylinder and work your way towards it. At least that is the routine I used on my 2 other cars and it worked very well.

Re: (elmo908)
i've bled the system quite a few times...we just got a bg brake system flush yesterday so i'm gonna try that and i haven't checked the emergency brake...it doesn't really work that well the back brakes probably need to be adjusted bad but the fronts are the only two that are closing up on me

You may want to check the pedal height adjustment. If the pedal is out all the way, but still slightly pressing on the brakes, they will drag. As the brakes become hotter & hotter, things start to expand. This could be why your brakes drag more & more as you go.
I did a rear disc conversion about 2 years ago. For some reason, it caused my pedal height to change, and made the brakes drag all the time. They didn't get tighter as I went like yours, but it was not a good thing...

i've adjusted that too backed out as far as i could....it doesn't do it on my way home from work only on the way in thats why its confusing the hell out of me...the motor is a b20 vtec turbo skunk 2 intake manifold anybody had any issues with that maybe a vacuum problem...it didn't do it for about the first 3 months the setup was in the car only when i replaced pads and rotors cause they were starting to grind

Re: brake problems with 92 civic dx hatch (92eg6b16)
Also have a civic 92 dx I have a problem with my brakes. After driving the car for about 3 weeks without washing the car every time I hit the brake my foot goes to the floor and the ******* car doesn’t want to stop its hard for the car to stop but it’s been doing this for the past year I have replace my brake pads they are new but it still does the same thing after driving the car for about 3 weeks I have trouble stopping I notice that right after I wash my car it goes away I think it’s because I wash off the powdery stuff that the brake pads release do I need to get better brake pads or can it be my rotors?
