Brake pedal question
Does anybody's brake pedal make a *clunk* sound when you first step on it. I'm talking like the first 1/2" of travel. If this is a problem I have, please let me know so I can get it fixed. Brakes work fine BTW. 94 EJ2

What is clunking?
Why don't you look up under the dash and press the pedal to see what is making the noise? If you can't see what it is, then come back and tell us.

Yep...should'a looked for myself in the first place. But I still don't know WTF it is. I can only hear it when I'm stopped and the engine has to be on. I don't know if I just can't hear it over road noise or if it doesn't do it when I'm coasting (no I'm not looking under there while I'm driving ) because I can't hear it then. I don't know **** about how pedals work, but I did a little research and here is what I came up with. My only theory is (even though it's not right, but I'll get to that in a minute) the brake lever might be sitting a couple millimeters away from the piston that goes into the booster <---(is that right?) and when I hit the pedal, the sound I hear is the lever hitting the piston. And now why I say that isn't the problem: No matter how gently or how hard I press the pedal, it makes the exact same noise at the exact same dB.
Now that I have looked and even done my research, I'm still asking for help because I don't know WTF the problem is. One of my original questions also was: Does anybody elses pedal make this noise?

Re: Brake pedal question (JRI94)
Thats just the free play, you can adjust it so it wont have any by looking underneath where the pedal attaches to the rod for the master cylinder. Just unlock the two stopper bolts and turn the rod from the MC untill there is no free play. Just like if you were to do your clutch pedal

Re: Brake pedal question (JRI94)
So this only occurs when the car is turned on?
I would venture to guess that the noise is related to your brake booster then, since it is the only part affected when the car is turned on/off.
I honestly don't know what to tell you, other than to have a technician look at it. My guess is the booster; is it boosting okay? When you turn off the car and pump the pedal, does it build pressure with each pump until it is very difficult to push?

Re: Brake pedal question (Targa250R)
The booster works fine. 3-4 presses and it's locked. Should I just not worry about it? I appreciate your help, guys.
