Brake Pedal Clicks!! whats that all about!!!
My g/f's brake pedal clicks when you push it down slightly. It does it when the car is off or on, driving or sitting still. I think it might be a piston inside the master cyl. because when it happens you can feel like a springy vibration in the pedal. It doesn't happen all the time though, like 80% of the time. It is kinda strange I've never felt anything like it before. any ideas?? It sounds like it is coming from the booster/master cyl. or up by the firewall on the inside like from the pedal assembly.
thanks
thanks

is it an automatic? Could be the shift lock solenoid you hear clicking...but then you said you hear it with the car off.
May just be the brake pedal freeplay you're hearing- when the push rod actually hits the booster. Stick your head under the dash and check it out

what year is it... my friends moms 04 civic always made this loud clicking sound when you push on the brake and when he took it into the dealer they said it was normal, because those cars run a wide pad-to-rotor clearance for better fuel economy.

it is a 92-95 lx I don't think she has ABS, i think that was the ex model... It sounds like ihitting a hammer on a spring i guess. It is loud and clicks like it shouldn't. it is just a bad sound... hard to describe...

go under the dash again and look up at the brake switch..this is gonna be hard to explain without a picture but here it goes..
if the clip that you push in on the plug for the brake switch is facing the 9 oclock direction, that is your problem
unplug the switch, take it out and turn it to the 2-3 oclock position
that should fix or at least quiet down the clicking
there is a bulletin about this problem, figured i would tell you to give it a whirl

Re: (J.MONEY)
This is a really loud click that just started... not a normal one and her lights work fine.
and jdeemseerx... do you know where this bulletin is? I tried searching but found nothing, I also looked at the stickies...
Just in case this doesn't work does anyone have any more ideas? I'll be attempting to fix it on sunday so I am trying to get a couple of ideas. This is a loud click and it only happens sometimes, and when the car is on or off.
thanks guys... keep the ideas coming

Re: (TurboGoKart)
so it is normal for it to just start making a really loud click like a hammer hitting a spring out of nowhere?
I don't buy it...

yea I got under the pedal and found nothing... I think it is coming from the the brake booster but the car is stopping like it normally does... not taking longer or anything. If it wasn't for the sound I would think it was totally normal braking. Believe me, I don't trust the computer.
