Default brake fluid leak between MC/booster- what will fix it

hi guys

my 92 hb has been leaking brake fluid for a while now. i think it started when i used my super leg muscles and pressed the brake down as hard as i could while the car was off. i know, real idiot!

anyways, the leak seems to be coming form between the mc and the booster. so much fluid has ocme out that the black paint on the booster has pretty much melted away.

im thinking its a bad seal around that area or something, so i bought a used mc off someone on h-t. do you think this will fix my problem?

if anyone has experienced this problme before or if anyone has some info, it would be greatly appreciated.

o ya one more thing. i was reading about the 1991 civic 4 door ex 15/16 direct bolt on mc. would this be better than the stock cx mc? my brakes are completely stock btw.

thank you very much guys!!

you either need to rebuild the master cylinder, or just flat out replace it. i would replace it.

thanks for the replies guys. i was going to replace the mc anyways. i was just wondering if there is a chance that the leak is due to the booster instead of the mc, since the leak is coming from between the 2.

also, doesn someone know the answer to the 1991 15/16 mc question? thanks imma change it out tomorrow!

dont know the answer to the 91 question, but it probably isnt the booster. usuallyy it is the master cylinder leaking from there.

The seal on the rear of the primary cylinder in the MC is shot. Anytime you get fluid in there it is almost definately coming from there

i have the used mc i bought sitting there ready to be swapped out. i just went to buy a 9/10 mm flare wrench combo, man, $8.50 for 1 wrench is kinda pricey. i also got 2 32oz valvoline brake fluid.

on top of that, i got 4 new brake nipples. the old are were are so old i remember last time i bled the brakes, the nipples would jus bend when trying to screw them off. the new ones i got look kinda big tho, hopefully the guy at the shop gave me the right ones.

thanks all. ill update you all on the outocme!!

as of friday, nov 19, i swapped out the mc and got help from my dad bleeding the system. its been 2 days and its good now. no leaks and the brake pedal doesnt fall to the floor slowly at red lights. someone mentioned it took them 2 bottles of brake fluid to flush out the system, but it took me less than 1 bottle. one of those 32 ounce bottles.

anyways, thanks for everything guys, the car is running good again!
