Brake Booster Problem
I have a 93 civic hatch and my brake booster is pooched. Would you recomment that I just use a replacement one for the same model car or is it beneficial to use an integra one?
Also, I have had a erratic idle for some time and it appears that when I pump the brakes the idle moves up. Is this common that the idle fluctuates with a faulty brake booster?

how do you know your brake booster is bad?
simple test:
1. with the car off, pump the brakes til they firm up and hold.
2. start the car, if the pedal loses pressure then your brake booster is more than likely fine.
if you're still not convinced you can unbolt your MC to see if there is any fluid in the booster.

Well, I depress the pedal slowly 5 times and supposedly it is meant to get firm and if it doesn;t this is a sign it is faulty. Also, I had my friend put it head near the booster to listen for vac leak and sure enough we can hear one. Finally, I started the car, let it idle for a minute or two, depressed the brake, turned off the car, waited for 30 seconds and if the booster is good, the pedal will stay where it is and if it is faulty the pedal will travel more to the floor...mine travelled more to the floor.

I suppose it is worth the extra few bucks to just get the bb and mc brand new. Hell, I will just buy one of each model then take back the ones I don't use. I suppose I know which one will work because either it will fit or not.

I would try to find a local jdm importer and
see what they have first. Or look in the classifieds

and if you wait long enough you may be able to get

Ok, honestly, I just want my brakes to be tighter. I have slotted rotors all the way around, stainless steel brake lines, and integra front and rear discs. My car is a 93 civic harch. It appears a lot of people swap in a 40/40 prop valve so I will do this (supposedly a 94+ teg RS one works). I am pretty sure my bb is faulty so I need to change it, so if I upgrade to a integra bb, do I have to change the mc as well or should I just swap in the same oem bb. If I do just replace this brake booster, will it just fault again?

and about the middle of it.

Mine is stamped 13/16. I am almost positive my bb is faulty because when I perform the airtightness checks, it fails. So, what should I swap in to have no problems. Will in fact the 94+ TEG mc and bb bolt right in? Everyhting I have read on this people are confused. You both seem to know. Thanks

if your brake booster was bad then your brakes would STAY tight.... if your brake pedal goes to the floor with car on or off its got to be your m/c.

Yes, just don't get an ABS setup or you'll have to reflare lines. A foolproof idea is to get a '91 Civic EX MC/BB setup.

I am going to pull the brake booster and get it checked out. If I were to use the same oem brake booster, can I upgrade the master cylinder or do the two have to go hand in hand?

patterns, and some boosters have different bolt patterns
on the engine side, but the interior side the 4 bolt patter
is always the same, and can be fliped around if needed.
Wish I had my camera back, I would take some pictures
of it. If you really dont get it maybe ill draw something up.

I think I will start by getting the brake booster checked and just rebuilt if in fact this is the problem.
As for a larger (proper application) bb, mc, and pv who has this stuff for sale on here?

I usually do, but have sold out of all my brake stuff.
But I always recomend going through passwordjdm.com
Grate service, email them and see what they have. Tell
them you need something non-abs, and see what they
have. You can PM me if you find out what they have
with your fitment questions.

Ok, so I had my booster checked and it is ok, but it is the seal between the mc and booster that is likely the problem. I am just wondering if a new mc comes with the seal that I mention. Also, I read somewhere on here that a 91 civic ex mc bolts right up and it a 15/16. Do you think that the oem booster that I am using can handle this upgraded mc? From what I read on here, it is worth while. Anyone care to comment please?
