Default bolts for engine on stand?

hi I'm having a simple problem and I cant find accurate info.
I picked up a engine Stand & lift for 100$. brand new from a friend.
Now, I'm trying to put my b20 on the stand.
I do not have any bolts that will fit into the block from the stand.

I also read I will only use 3 of the 4 arms? is this accurate?
What would the proper length & size bolts needed?

I used the transmission case bolts or some long bolts that fit through the casing holes if they weren't threaded with a respective nut, used all 4 arms and I had to go pick up some steel nuts that were bigger than the bolts to use as spacers so the engine wasn't loose on the stand.

You can see some of it in my picture below:

thanks for the reply. The picture helps.
unfortuantely the motor didn't come with a tranny so I don't have any bolts to test.
Guess I'll have to go with trial and error in this case. Thabks

8mm x 40 bolts. Wouldn't hurt to get longer bolts and washers.

I don't remember, is thread pitch 1.25 (oddball Honda special) or standard 1.5?

Those will be a bitch to find.

1.25 thread pitch is made specifically for Honda and even the fastener companies don't carry that irregular thread pitch.

I did find that M10 x 1.5 will fit into the M12x1.25 threading well and hold decently.

These same bolts and nuts are used for the torque mounts (just short length versions) on the 92-95 civics and when I went to change to the aluminum mounts the original bolts did not fit and I had to find a solution.

Your best bet though is to go to the scrap yard and pull some tranny bolts from some civics. That way you get the M12 x 1.25 that fit perfectly.

Supply houses that stock metric bolts should have them. There are 3 places in my area that carry them. Yeah, for the most part, it's either Honda (online or dealership), salvage yard or part-outs.

That's funny, I'm in Canada which is all metric but the 1.25 thread pitch is not common and even Fastenal didn't carry any 1.25 thread pitch bolts.

For standard metric it's 1.0 and 1.5.

Maybe next time I'm in need, we can work out a deal.

TomCat....
sounds like a plan.
Last time I was at that shop, I needed 4 bolts. He had them in stock in a big *** cardboard box. The old guy just told me I could have it, FREE. lol

It could also be from the style of bolt I was looking for. I needed alan head bolts not regular hex flange head.
