bogging,slow pick up
so i have a little problem and i have pushed it to the side for a while but it pissed me off yesterday, i drive a 95 civic coupe with a type r swap, when i drive normal its ok but lets say a car gets next to me and we take of from a roll my car bogs really bad and the other car will jump ahead and it takes time to pick up speed and climb rpm's,once vtec kicks in i catch up and passed them but there something wrong its like if its drowning or something i dont race much but im tired of playing catchup, and more importanly i want to resolve the problem, ive had other b series swaps and never had this problem what can it be

Are you serious? This guy has a legit question and you flame him? He has said nothing ricer-like. You sir are a moron, gtfo
To the OP, if you're getting too much fuel you'll have the same problem as me and it'll be blowing out black smoke. I haven't noticed a major power loss however it still pisses me off. Ron knows his stuff, check anything he reccommends. Good luck

im not flaming but the way its put is kind of "ricey". Anyways, bogging problems usually come from ignition timing, and base timing (but may run a bit rough if even a tooth off), or a vacuum leak (idle is usually jumping though) do routine maintenance first and through a timing light on it.

Re: bogging,slow pick up
yeah thats why i wrote afterwards that i dont race every honda i see,and certainly not in streets.yeah i do have a wierd idle im guessing a vaccum leak but cant seem to find it i had the line that goes from the intake mani to the cruis control disconnected and found out that was giving idle issues so i fixed it but this i have no idea, also the ilde surges are when the car is just turned on once its warmed up drives normal,

Re: bogging,slow pick up
Sounds like your Timing may be off a little bit. I'm having the same problems with a SOHC and still haven't got around to setting it perfect. either that or a clogged fuel filter or injectors.

Re: bogging,slow pick up
i was reading z6hatchboy's post and did notice that after a run the car runs really rough like i have to step on it to drive normal, that only happens after a run with vtec and all,so it could be the timing!?

Re: bogging,slow pick up
Thanks! If its stumbling like your mentioning it does sound like timing. If it only surges on start up that would be a fitv (fast idle thermo valve), theres a write up on here somewhere on how to clean it. Those two things should fix all your problems. If your not running the right ecu that could be where the timing issue is coming from also

Re: bogging,slow pick up
if you want to see what a base map for a c5 looks like go to tunewithcrome.com and download crome free and compare the different maps. the problem however is probably on the ignition map maybe though. Sweet, that diy makes it really easy and should solve the idle problem

Shifting before 3k puts you in 5th at like 35mph! I don't know ANYONE that runs 5 gears light to light, even driving like someone that should be in a buick roadmaster!!! LOL

Re: bogging,slow pick up
BTW, EFF FITV's!! I'm gonna do another writeup on how to permanently lock them shut using one of the 3 Dizzy bolts that I think is overkill too..
Falling on it's face sounds like a ignition timing problem. if it just happened out of nowhere, it's possibly your cat starting to clog too! I know excessive fuel in the cat causes it to run REALLLLLLY hot and it starts to melt the porcelain inside creating restriction.. Most B-series ECU's are calibrated for 240cc injectors.. I'm not sure if ITR's are any bigger.. If they are, you could have damaged your cat if you have one..
