Default Body Kit Weight

I have a question...If I get the TBC Coupe Fiber Glass body kit, will that weigh me down, cause I know a Civic weighs about 2480lbs I believe or less, but would that weigh me down much? cause I'm going to have 400whp when im done, but if the kit is gonna weigh me down then I'll just leave it stock on the outside and just get the euros and Sliver or Alloy rims.

You're probably gonna get flamed, but ya, get your 400 whp before you mess with the body. You'll probably find that you're happier with just a lip or something in the end.

I mean I thought it would be gravy to have looks and power, but once u really think about cops love to **** with imports with Body kits, eh so I'll go stock on the outside, uh does anyone by chance know the compression ratio on a b16b 98+ type R civc motor?

10.8:1
185 HP
117 TQ

You'd be better off with the Integra type R motor IMO.

11.1:1
200 HP
134 TQ

They are both excellent motors, but you're aming for 400 hp. Are you looking to turbo? The compression #'s on these are WAY too high. It can be done, but maybe it would be more cost effective to start with a lower end motor (b18b).

bwahahahaha! 400whp. If you post questions like this I doubt you have the knowledge to get 400whp out of civic. Don't get a body kit they are ugly as ****.

this is the wrong place to ask for opinions on bodykits and such. most ht people only focus on getting performance out of their cars. Clear corners, lights, altezza, body kits, are all "dirty" words almost here.

as for that smart remark that body kit and 400whp don't go together!!!??? uhm. that is a matter of $$$. i personally have a ~300 crank hp car with full show body kit on. with the right turbo setup, i'm sure i can make 400whp in that car. it's just not something that is appreciated here on ht.

The styling opinons on ht usually favor 15" wheels, jdm lighting, and m/b a lip kit.
as for your question about body kit weight. stock bumpers are quite heavy when compared to quality fiberglass ones. i dont' know the exact lbs, but a few lbs is not out of the question. i think you would actually save weight by replacing stock pieces with light weight fiberglass ones. as long as you pick pieces that are not so wild that they turn out to be heavy as hell.

Vis body components are top notch for style and quality. my bumper has survived scrapes, towing, snow, and street bumps with no problem. it only gave up when a lady rear ended me in traffic, the type of hit that urethane bumpers wouldn't survive fully intact with anyways. hope this helps.

cause I asked a buddy of mine and he said that fiberglass is light as hell so I'm thinking about replacing the stock materials like you said (95stangkillah).

True...

I personally, hate altezza's because they NEVER fit properly (like OEM). They almost ALWAYS leak, unless you get lucky.

So many people buy a civic, then spend all of this money trying to make it look like a Ferarri or something. It's a civic, it will always be a civic and that is ok. Civics have a look all of there own, if you don't like it then you shouldn't buy it .

Most cars look like **** with altezza's and lame *** bodykits (my opinion). If you want altezza's on your car, then save the money and get a used Lexus. Sorry, to go off about this, but just get a little frustrated about this topic.

Bro, just my advice, take it or leave it, you should go with what you like. Don't dump a kit because some people don't like them. Just build your car to the specs that you like, you'll enjoy it more

If you have the money to power your civic to 400hp/whp I'd get something A LOT STRONGER THAN FIBERGLASS for a kit. Think carbon... Or just leave it, urethane and/or related materials will hold up fine. And as for the Euro/Altezzas don't waste your money on them, get something to help cool down your 400hp car. Or else you'll have to end up parking it for 10 min every 20 min of driving or something.
