my machanic is a close friend i use to work for him awhile bqack when i was like 15..he topped my carr off withradiator fluid and then turned it on and my coolant sprayed out of the radiator so he told me i have a blown head gasket? is this true? i dont have white smoke i did at one point buyt not much at all but not now if there is smoke its to thin to see?

Do a compression test!

I never heard of spraying coolant as a blown head gasket symptom. I see his logic, thinking that pressure from the combustion chamber was leaking into the cooling system causing it to spray. However, I wouldn't rely solely on this assumption.

Does the car loose coolant?
Low on power?
No smoke at all?
Oil look discolored like milk chocolate?

A compression test and/or leak down test will tell all.

I think the mechanic sounds shady to be so quick to assume a blown head gasket. People pay mechanics big money to replace head gaskets, he should not be so quick to diagnose based on spraying coolant.

You can buy a compression tester from any autoparts store for around $30 and test all cylinders with simple hand tools and about 20 minutes.

I would get a second opinion.

If the radiator had a leak, then it would be obvious. A leaking radiator would not cause it to spray upon start-up, only to leak more. If the radiator had clogged passages, it could possibly cause a spray, but highly unlikely.

Again, do a compression test.

im sure you could around 1500 for it. headgaskets are an easy fix for someone with pretty basic car knowledge if you know anybody who will help you for free you guys could knock it out for cheap. but how are you sure it is the headgasket? did u try any of the things "iliv2xlr8" suggested? compression check will show if a headgasket leak is there and on what side of the motor.

no i havent done the compression test but im kind of tired of this ****ing car!!!! the wirings all ****ed up i cant find the cel check wire or whatever u call it! idk i just wanna part it out and se what i can get for it and buy my uncles 1997 integra
