Actually, the sleeves in the B20 motor are weak. They break all the time when you high rev them. Get a good reputable company to sleeve the B20 block, port & polish, and you'll have a strong/reliable motor.

Are you going to boost it? If you are eventually going to turbo this new motor I would definately go with the b18b. Those motors make incredible numbers when turboed. The b20 is a better for all motor and boosting it would make me uneasy with the weak sleeves that were mentioned earlier.

actually my friend made 40lbs more torque when he swapped his b18 for a b20, so my b20 vote still stands
EDIT: this was for a turbo app

Re: (SOL-R)
Depends on what your plans are for the motor,
B20 is what I'm going with 6-7psi boost.
But an LS can hold up aa lot longer and lot more amounts of boost.Just check the FI forum.Good Luck.

or straight LS sleeved, new rods and pistons like me....a dash of hondata to tune the biatch and some beefed up valvetrain. GE is sleeving my block for $850, i thought it would cost more.

So you are confirming that a b20 makes more power all motor like I said?

Re: Which is better B18b or B20? (daver)
i lifted each one in turn and they both felt the same. but it was the b20 that broke my scale. I think it was the extra 5 lbs from the beefier valve cover. ahaha

first off your an idiot for makeing such a bold statement. Have you even done any reaserch in the b20? probably not, seening as how in stock for they suck *** when modifiing. there cyl walls can't handle high compression (most of the time anything above 11.8, will result you in with a cracked sleeve). also the compression ratio on that motor is soo low you expect to make 'made power' buy throwing an itr head on that which normally sees a full 1.5-2 points high in compression.
now im not saying that b20's are not a good motor but you just can't do much to them in stock forum. personally in stock forum the b18b has TONS more potential. with out haveing to modifi it. now if you want to the vtec route ill sggest you get a gsr motor and work from there. but i don't think you want to go that route, personally i wouldn't do the LS/vtec or crvtec, as i see them both being no more then shitty base for VTEC. if you want vtec get a gsr bore it out alil through some nice High compression pistons in there build the head and you will have something just as good with better reliablity then ls/vtec or crvtec. now im gona set back and watch all these guys say "ls/vtec" makes more power bla bla bla bla bla. ya whatever NO IT DOESN"T
