Best way to clean under the hood?
Ok, so under my hood is really dirty. The car was bought in 2000 new from the dealership, and since then has never been cleaned under the hood. Its really dusty and grimey. I want to clean it up to look new, what is best way? I have heard simply spraying it down with water can some how harm the electronics, so i was wondering whats a safe way to clean it? Thanks in advance.

simple green should be named SUPER GREEN. it works wonder!! spay it down and let it sit for 3-5 mins water it down. Spay it down once more, if you want try to scrub spots that are real dirty and water it down again. do be careful with the ignition components and connectors as 94allmotor said! +++++ WATCH FOR THAT INTAKE!

haha i know im currently doing a swap. i was stupid enough to get the car on the lift before washing the bey out. and i really dont have time to put the front end together so i can roll it outside where the hose is so i can wash it. but as soon as my new engine is in i will be washing it and ill probably do a DIY!

DIY car wash...spray on purple power wait 5 minutes and use their pressure rinse...if all the seals in your dizzy are good and your harness isnt hacked to shyt then you dont need to disconnect anything. i do it every few weeks and have never had an issue. i spray it right on the battery, dizzy, and alternator. maybe i get lucky? i dont know, i guess you could take the battery out if your worried.
