Re: Best Times On Your Single V-TEC (B-series Assassin)
Wow you guys are getting some pretty good times. Better than I expected SOHC motors could do . My friend hit a low 14 in his 96 coupe DX, SOHC VTEC motor.

Can you guys with the sohc vtec motors tell me how your launching to get these 2.2 60 ft times? What are u launching at and how are u launching? I got my sadly pathetic 2.8 60 ft from launching at 4000-4500, not sure if i let it out too quick. It was my first time at a track.
Are u guys launching at like 5000-5500 and slipping the clutch?
any tips would help.

Re: Best Times On Your Single V-TEC (Ales)
2.8 god dam, i know your problem right away. you need to lower your front tire pressauer to 22psi. as for your launch rev the **** out of it and just drop the clutch. im sure you know how to shift, its probably going to drop back in RPM then rise up, but it might just stop spinning right when you need to shift to 2nd. as long as you have DECENT tires your going to get 2.2 or better 60fts

Re: Best Times On Your Single V-TEC (jdmimports79)
Im runnin on gsr rims with Kumho ecsta tires. I think the tire pressure was around 22 or 23. But I do think i wasn't launchin high enough (around 4-4500 rpm). Next time I go, Im gonna try launching at 5500 and try different ways to let out the clutch.

92 Civic dx hatch w/93 d16z6, header and intake. Full interior, street tires, a/c, and driven 300 miles to the Indy import drags last year. Ran a best 15.2 91 mph on a 90 degree day! Best 1/8th mile was a 9.8 72mph. Not bad for a 500 buck complete swap! Best time with the stock 220k miles dx motor was 10.6 1/8th.

Re: Best Times On Your Single V-TEC (nsxmatt)
I hit 14.6 in a 89 civic std. with a 95 D16Z6 with intake, header, ecu (mugen program), and vtec controller. It was completely gutted. Street tires.

Re: Best Times On Your Single V-TEC (nichols_si)
I beat my friends EF Si by 2 cars on the street. He says he runs low 15's and he puts 125 to the wheels. Im hoping for mid-low 15's with my d16y8 in a 93 cx

Re: Best Times On Your Single V-TEC (Downeybear11)
Theres a turbo'ed d16z6 in a 5th gen coupe around here......i/h/e, carbon fiber, no backseats.....he won't give up his damned A/C tho.... He ran a 13.8, beat a Stock S2000 a few times... lost to a TA WS6 tonite by a car and a half, no BS.

16.1@85.xx mph at Carlsbad Raceway. 1994 5sp Civic EX coupe with Iceman CAI, DC headers, GReddy SP exhaust, Eibach ProKit, '97 GSR rims with shitty Falken Ziex 502s.
Who cares about being flamed? I don't have the money for a B16A3, so flamers need to step off. It's my car and money and not yours. That said, I'm glad there hasn't been any flamers.
By the way, with that setup, I've lapped a 5G hatchback w/B18C1 and stock suspension and tires, as well as a fixed up 3G Integra GSR 2dr with IHE at Streets of Willow during Hybrid Track Day #1 July 1, 2000. I've also done better at the San Diego Region Solo2 events than a few 6G Civic Si's.
But that said, I do wish I had a B16A3 or something faster...
