Your motor stops making power at 6600 ... so that's a pretty decent point to shift. Anything above that is wasted road.

So 400 above when you stop making power is your power band?

You have to take into consideration that once you shift, the RPMs will drop down from where peak power is generated, and so you're essentially climbing back up the curve again. What you want to do is shift at a point that balances the drop-off in power past the peak with the drop-off in power before the peak. In most cases, that would be at/near redline.

I've always gotten better times and response shifting just above peak than shifting just below redline. Granted, I never raked out my SOHC, so it may be a little different due to the difference in torque.

with a AEM CAI, shift at 7000 on factory tach, which is about 6700 rpms on a correct tach.

14.85 stock Z6 with IHE.

Me neither. He played around with a lot of different d-series parts and good after market parts.

I say keep your rpms low unless the motor is built and you are running it at the track. I drive between 65-70 on the freeway and shift between 3-3.5k and I just filled up today and got 35+ mpg out of my D16z6 with I/H/E in a coupe.

Save your money kid. Turboing a car shouldn't be a priority for someone who's JUST now learning how to drive. if I were you I would wait until you're 18 or so to do this. Once you move off to college you'll have wished to hadn't tried to impress anyone in your high school with your honda.
