Default best option/method for replacing GSR differential

well just to give you guys some background, my life sucks and so does every single one of my cars. i bought a car with an axle seal leak (some may call it output shaft seal) with plans to repair it. well i procrastinate for a while and finally today i take it to the mechanic to replace it (too cold out to do myself). mechanic tries to remove axle and won't budge for ****. removes left axle and tried to drive it out and no go. he said the differential has some play in it.

he suggests a new axle/differential. the symptons are there so i ask you now, what should my next step be?

1) keep adding fluid til its warm enough for me to attempt
2) try to source another GSR tranny and have it installed
3) try to source a busted GSR tranny with a good differential and swap over components
4) try to source a GSR differential and have it installed
5) go with an OEM type LSD (this may pose problems as id have to change out other components)

mind you this is my daily driver to school. im a broke working college student just trying to make it

replace the diff. with an OBX LSD. i hear they are doing very well.

or just get another LS/GSR diff., swap the ring gear and be done with it.

i'll try the number 1 first. i had the same problem with the sohc axle. i ending up using the bigger pickle fork and a hammer to get the axle loose. as for the diff got some play. it suppost too. do you have any problem with your tranny?
