its all subjective... people like mobil, some like castrol, some royal purple, some amsoil, etc etc.

The only answer I can give would be clean oil, is the best oil.

whatever is the autozone special
i prefer mobil 1 though.
i think staying on schedule with the oil changes is more important than the brand motor oil you use.

I'm sure your poverty spec Euro engine just needs the most oh-so-special oil.

Simply put, if you change your oil every 3k, just get any oil that meets the latest standard. Most of these cars burn oil. The ones that are in good shape and don't burn oil tend to stick with the better brands. Personally I use Penzoil Platinum or Ultra and winter starts are super easy, gas mileage is improved, oil stays cleaner longer, and the car runs great.

If you plan on switching to synthetic make sure all of your oil seals are in good shape. I changed my valve cover gasket, spark plug gaskets, VTEC solenoid gasket, oil pan gasket, and distributor 0 ring before I switched as they all had minor leakage. My car has 191,600 on the clock and does not leak or burn any of the synthetic oil.

As far as filters Amsoil, Mobil 1, K&N, Wix, Bosh (filtech) Honda AO1 (filtech) are all good filters. Stay away from Fram and Honda A02 filters.

Most of what I posted is all overkill, but honestly it cost me $31 with the Penzoil Ultra and A01 filter, or $28 if I use Penzoil Platinum. Get yourself a magnetic drain plug as well.

I've had good luck in my D15B7 using regular old Walmart brand Supertech 5W30 full synthetic, Fram Tough Guard filters, and a can of Engine Restore 4 Cylinder Formula. I think the only reason I lose any oil at all is due to my oil pan gasket needing changed... those things have kept my motor happy for about 100,000 miles now. Like others have said, though, the most important thing is to keep up on your oil changes and use clean oil.

WIX filters from Napa and the Walmart Super-tech filters are some of the better/cheap filters.

You really CAN'T beat the Royal purple filter though, but at $15 it's pretty steep. However, it's also the only filter you don't need to change before you change your oil. It's the first and only synthetic filter on the market for street cars.

I change my oil at 9,000 mile intervals with Royal Purple and the accompanying filter. Amsoil, Rotella, and the aforementioned oils are fine. With these engine, what really matters most is a quality filter and regular changes. And make sure you don't run on too little oil for too long if you leak or burn oil, it's a good way to kill an oil pump and throw a rod in the process.

Anyone who changes their fully-synthetic oil every 3,000-4,000 miles is flushing money down the toilet.

I change it when it starts to get real dirty. I don't really have a time frame.

Honda engines perform and wear much better with oil that has zinc in it. Most modern day oils don't unless you're buying good stuff like Rotella or Royal Purple. Even the new Mobil 1 doesn't have zinc in it.

Something to do with the rockers/LMA

I bought my car with 153k on the clock and immediately switched to Mobil 1 Full synthetic and filters. I never checked any of the gaskets (did later replace the valve cover gasket when painting it) and havent had much of any problem. It does leak a small amount of oil, although Im not exactly sure where from, but not enough to make me worry. Car has 239k on it now and I tend to change my oil every 4-5k miles. Comes out a little dirty but not actually that bad.

In hindsight I think the OP may have actually been asking which weight motor oil to use in his car.

That answer would be 5w30.
