I thought there was a diff in designs like...
4-1=more low end
4-2-1= more top end
I remember hearing that somewhere.
4-1=more low end
4-2-1= more top end
I remember hearing that somewhere.
4-1=more top end
4-2-1=BETTER low end and midrange

Re: Best 4-1 header for sohc (gen 5 hatch)
I think 4-1's are a waste for the sohc. True, 4 to 1's are designed for top end power, but that's in the 7+ rpm range, which sohc's rarely move into. For a B18C5 which revs to 9 grand, it's worth it, but not the sohc.
I feel like you would be better off with a 4-2-1. Give you better help in the mid range, while still giving great results on the high end. You won't be utilizing the design of the 4-1 with stock valvetrain and stock cam

That's bullcrap. Many D16's spend their time in high rpm. Truely in a race when are you in mid and low range rpms? I use 4-1 header on my SOHC and have had excellent results from 5800-7200. When i get a new ecu with a higher revlimiter I'll see even more benefits.

I'm saying you're gonna show about the same results at your 7200 peak as well as better results in the mid range.
4 to 1's are for high revs...ie 7000+
show me a dyno that shows the huge difference betwen a 4-2-1 and a 4-1 on a sohc up to 7200 rpm.
I've had a DC 4-1 on my sohc and I currently have a stock exhaust mani for the better mid rang, and my high end is still excellent.

Re: Best 4-1 header for sohc (Evs-One)
4-2-1 pull more low end torque & hp up to around 5000rpm. The power then levels off to about stock. 4-1's pull more hp 5000+. 90% of my time in a race is above 5000rpm. 4-2-1 is good for nice daily driving torque. DC sports used to have the dynos that showed this on their webpage. It doesnt want to load for me now so i cant go check.

Kamikaze 4-1 Ceramic Header
Thats what I got, works great, u get to run no cat or a high flow tho.
They east gaskets kind fast, had to replace mine 3 times, already.
http://www.importparts.com sell them for cheap, i got mine there.
The are great if your going to Supercharge you car, but doing that on a d16 is kind a waste you might as well just get a turbo, in that case same the cash, and buy a turbo Kit, or make a home made one

Whatever you do...do not get a Powertech (big for domestics in MI...not good on lil hondas though...I made that mistake) In fact the powertech is so bad...Im putting the stock one back on soon as it hits 60 degrees
