Default battery light - searched

I searched on the battery light being on. Which is basically the charging light.
Seem to be a lot of conflicting posts... who woulda thought...?!

My battery light wont go out, I replaced the battery just to be on the safe side and still no dice.

I understand that it could be a bad alternator, my question is, to test it, do I have to have it out of the car? Can I remove/install an alternator with the motor in without any problems?

to test your alternator on the car do this.

start your car then remove the battery cable from the negative side. if your car runs then the alternator is ok. if it dies its your alt.

when the batt light comes on its the alternator.

The car sputted as I started unscrewing the negative wire from the car(not the terminal) then died as soon as it was completely off.

I take it I need a new alternator huh?

Anyone have an OBD1 alternator for a jdm b16a SirII?
I believe only the dizzy/injectors are changed to obd2 since its in an obd2 car.

I wouldn't buy an alternator from someone other than a parts shop. I had a prob with a new alternator not working, got another that didn't work, 3rd one was tested at the store before i purchased it and it failed. 4th time was the charm though.
