battery or alternator? or somethign else?
Hey i have an EM1 and i recently just started having a weird *** problem guys.. When i hit like 7k rpm my battery light would come on and my srs air bag lights comes on.. so i replaced the battery with a new prostart, and nothing changed. It's liek my cars getting too much electricity from the battery or something? At first i thought it was my battery, my grounds seem ok, maybe on of the grounds is a little bit messed up but still intact to the body of the car. i dont knwo whats wrong, anyone ever had a problem like this? battery light goes away when i let go of the gas and i slowly start coming down form 7k...some times the battery light won't come on until 8k, and sometimes it comes on early at 6k? any one know whats going on?

This may be inconclusive, but my jetta's alternator cable melted along with the fuse box and was throwing all kinds of lights, regardless of replacing the alternator and battery... Batteries and alternators will do some wierd ****. Take your alternator off and have it load tested...

The alternator isn't a starter. You can start your car on battery only, it just wont get charged back up. If you're pushing the physical limits of your car and the alternator can't keep up, it will start shutting down components (such as srs) and a battery indicator light will come up letting you know your battery isnt getting sufficient juice.

Have the alternator tested.
When the charging system light (battery symbol) turns on, the alternator is the first thing to check. A bad battery will not cause the charging system light to turn on, despite the fact that a battery symbol was chosen for this warning light (confusing).
The SRS light may be turning on because the SRS system is sensitive to voltage fluctuations, which of course can be produced by a faulty alternator.

Thats irrelevent... The alternator seems to be too weak to power the motor while under a load... Test the alternator.

An analogy. Stick your hand in a flame and quickly yank it out. You get burned. Stick it in there and this time keep it there for a while. Burns worse. Both scenarios are bad. Stop beating on your car.
