Bad Tranny Bearings??
Is there any way to tell if a bearing is bad..?? Just by taking it out an spinning it should I be able to tell..?? I just bought 95 SI tranny and it's making whining noises when I downshift and when at idle, clutch pressed in noise goes away... Think maybe I was sold a jacked up throwout bearing, even though its brand new could this still be the culprit..?? Would a pilot bearing make this whining noise..?? Mainly im j/w is can u tell if a bearing is bad just by spinning it an stuff..??

You should be able to tell by spinning the bearing. if you feel any roughness or here noise in the bearing, its bad.
You also may have gotton a bad input shaft bearing. Thats what happened with mine.
