Bad steering pop! Help needed

Bad steering pop! Help needed
I have a 97 hatch and ever since I got the car it has popped when turning. It mostly does it when turning right at low speeds. Sometimes when taking off straight. It's a loud pop from the drivers front wheel. Idk if its a balljoint, outter, or inner tie rod, or maybe even steering rack. I wanna get your opinions so I'm not blindly throwing money at it. And yes ive checked it out. No ripped boots or anything. It's a manual rack btw. Any help is appreciated! Thanks guys!

does it do it if you jack the front of the car up and turn the wheels or even just dry turning them on the ground ? are the axel(s) fully seated ?

It will sometimes when turning wheels sitting still, it will also do it when I jack te car up, and will pop when lowering it back down. I would say the axel is not positive though.

Re: Bad steering pop! Help needed
The axles can pop for months, even years, and still work. I'm not telling you to leave it and see how long it works for but it doesn't mean it's not an axle problem since you've had for a few months without problems.
And I also have a question, mine was popping on the passenger side so I replaced it and it's been a lot better now but it still pops occasionally. It's a re manufactured one and I heard those are just as good as new but I need some confirmation on that. And what else could it be? I notice it most while going downhill braking and turning. Sometimes it could just be going straight and braking. Sometimes it could be just from turning. Something to do with bearing or rotor maybe?

Not saying any of you are wrong but what made you think of axel before inner/outter tie rods, balljoints, or even steering rack? Wouldn't the axel click, the pop I'm experiencing is loud, just didn't expect axel. I appreciate your comments tho

And to answer your question, sometimes remanufactured axels are defective. If you could got your axel from a parts store then that could be it. Sometimes it just pays to get the original manufactured part

What do you mean what set up? I've tried moving the wheels 12/6 and 3/9 when I first got the car to check balljoints and tie rods and got no play. But what do you suggest checking the axel besides visual?

It's got a gsr swap. Kyb/tein suspension. No offense but if I knew that then I would replace the axel. But I can't tell where exactly the pop is coming from, I can only hear it when I'm in the car turning the wheel

Always supply all information about your car in tech threads that you make.

Jack up the car, take the wheel off and look around at all of the rubber. Look for tears in the ball joint boots, and the CV axle boots. If the CV axle boots are torn and there is grease over your suspension, replace those first. also, grab the midshaft and wiggle it. If it wiggles, you need a midshaft bearing.

It's your thread, so it would benefit you and us if you read carefully all posts made in it:
Diagnosis is by definition the opposite of throw parts at it, right?
Throw parts at it?

I posted on here looking for help, and all you've asked is if my car is stock or not then tell me to find out the problem. How's that helping? Telling me to diagnose a problem that I'm on here looking for help to find doesn't really make sense, so I didn't know what you meant
